Flag Football Program Overview
Next Level Flag Football is entering its 15th 'official' season, proudly serving more than 250 partner locations across 25+ states. Since 2010, we've grown from neighborhood games in San Mateo, California, into one of the nation's leading youth flag football programs, creating fun, organized, and community-focused experiences for families across the country.
Designed for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade (grade offerings vary by location), our leagues emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive game-day experience led by outstanding coaches and staff.

Flag Football Season Operations
Season Schedule
Each Next Level Flag Football season consists of up to 10 program dates, providing athletes with a consistent, organized, and engaging experience throughout the season. While most locations operate on a consistent weekly schedule, select program dates or venues may vary based on facility availability. Families should reference their specific location schedule for the most up-to-date information.
Grade-Based Divisions
Next Level Flag Football is a grade-based league designed to create fair, balanced, and developmentally appropriate competition. Participants compete within their current school grade level, and players are not permitted to compete in a lower grade division (playing down) but are allowed to compete in a higher grade division (playing up).
One-Day Weekly Commitment
Every weekly program combines practice and games into one convenient program session of 1.5 to 2 hours in length, location depending. Team practice takes place immediately before game play, allowing athletes to learn new skills and immediately apply them in competition. This single-day format helps families enjoy the season without additional weekday commitments.
Practice & Game Play
Each program date begins with instructional practice focused on football fundamentals, teamwork, and player development before transitioning into organized league games. Our coaches create an environment where athletes can continuously improve while enjoying healthy competition and the excitement of game day.
Student-Athlete Mentor Coaches
Every team is led by a local high school or collegiate Student-Athlete Mentor Coach who serves as the team's Head Coach and positive role model throughout the season. Parent Volunteer Coaches assist with player rotations, sideline organization, and defensive responsibilities, allowing our Student Coaches to lead instruction and offensive play calling. Together, they provide a positive and engaging experience for every athlete.
Uniforms & Player Pack
Every registered participant receives an official Next Level uniform as part of their league registration. Optional Player Pack items, available for purchase during registration, are typically shipped alongside season uniforms whenever possible, although select items may arrive separately due to production or fulfillment schedules. Prior to production, families will receive a size verification email to confirm their uniform sizing and shipping information. Uniforms and any applicable Player Pack purchases are shipped directly to the participant's designated mailing address before the season begins.
Communication
Throughout the season, families receive regular email updates regarding schedules, weather, program reminders, and important league information. We encourage participants to monitor their email and their program webpage for the latest updates throughout the season.

Our Development Philosophy
Next Level Flag Football is designed to provide a fun, organized, and development-focused experience where every athlete can build confidence, improve their skills, and develop a lifelong love for the game. Our programs welcome boys and girls of all experience levels, and no prior flag football experience is required.
We believe the best youth sports experiences balance meaningful competition with character development. Every practice and game is an opportunity for athletes to strengthen their skills, demonstrate sportsmanship, build resilience, and grow as teammates and leaders.
Community-Based Teams
Whenever possible, teams are formed with classmates, schoolmates, friends, and approved buddy requests to create a familiar and enjoyable experience for every participant while strengthening local community connections.
Equipment
Next Level provides all essential flag football equipment, including footballs and flag belts. Participants should wear athletic cleats or athletic shoes and bring a water bottle to every program date.
Parent Sideline Expectations
Parents and families are an important part of the Next Level experience. We encourage enthusiastic support while demonstrating respect for players, coaches, officials, and fellow spectators.
To help create the best environment for every athlete, we ask that parents:
Encourage all players through positive sportsmanship.
Allow Student-Athlete Coaches and officials to coach and officiate the game without sideline instruction or criticism.
Respect officials' decisions and model appropriate behavior at all times.
Celebrate effort, teamwork, improvement, and character just as much as the final score.
Positive sidelines help create confident athletes and memorable experiences for everyone involved - regardless of which team you are rooting for!
Weather Policy
Participant safety is always our highest priority. Programs will operate in light rain whenever field conditions remain safe and facilities remain open. In the event of severe weather, unhealthy air quality, unsafe playing conditions, or facility closures, Next Level Sports will communicate any schedule changes or cancellations to registered families as quickly as possible through our official communication channels.
