The Next Level OTA's program structure is tailored to prepare you for the upcoming flag football season. Here, players will be taught distinct fundamentals of offensive and defensive techniques and their purposes. From stance, to footwork, to schemes... this program covers the details it takes to take your game to the Next Level! Additionally, each program day will include specific situational simulations, i.e. Goal Line, Red Zone, Over Time, and more! Coach Scott Swartz, assisted by Benicia HS Student-Athletes, will execute the Next Level OTA's.
No previous flag football or Next Level program experience is required to attend the training(s). See below for the full curriculum!
All attendees will receive a Next Level OTA's Nike Dri-Fit T-shirt, included in the base cost of the program!

Program Curriculum
Offensive Drill Work
- Quarterback Drills: 3 & 5 Step Drops, Scrambling, Throwing Technique, Reading Coverages, etc.
- Running Back Drills: Ball Security, Ball Handling, Footwork Progressions, Change of Direction Drills, etc.
- Wide Receiver Drills: Stance & Body Position, Releases, Route Tree Teach, Catching in Traffic, Motions/Sweeps, etc.
Defensive Drill Work
- Age appropriate defensive coverages (man and zone concepts)
- Proper stance, leverage, coverage alignments (man and zone concepts)
- Blitz technique and responsibilities
- Zone coverage responsibilities, eye discipline and zone spacing discipline
- Flag pulling drills and fundamentals
Game Simulations
- Red Zone Work: How to navigate play calling & execution in the 'Red Zone'
- Goal Line: Finding the best way to cross the line!
- 2 Minute/1 Minute Drill: End of Game situation, executing with efficiency
- Overtime Practice: Understand the Overtime Layout and transitions
- Extra Point/Conversions: Nail down 2-3 go-to plays you can take into the season

Site Director: Scott Swartz
Scott Swartz, who played Quarterback during his playing days, has 15 years of High School coaching experience as well as 11 years at the Collegiate and NFL Levels. Recently, Coach Swartz has been named Benicia High School's new Head Coach for the 2023 Season, but previously was the Defensive Coordinator for the Panthers from 2018-2021. He is very fired up to lead the Next Level program and continue to grow the game of football for the community of Benicia.
