2021 Basketball Summer Camp - NDNU
Join us this Summer for the Next Level Basketball Camp at Notre Dame de Namur University! The Basketball program will run from Monday, June 28th to Thursday, July 1st. Camp is open to participants from 2nd grade to 8th grade (2021/2022 school year).
The Next Level Sports Basketball Camp will cover a wide variety of fundamental skills during each day of programming. The camp will focus on fundamentals including footwork, ball handling, shooting and passing as well as the introduction of proper defensive techniques. The 4-day camp offers a great balance of instruction, competition, hard work, and fun!
The Next Level Basketball Camp offers a complete overview of the game of basketball. Guided by Serra Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach, Brian Carson - his staff will be comprised of current coaches, high school players, and collegiate players.
No previous Next Level Basketball experience is required to attend the camp. The program is open to all players interested in improving their skill level and interest in the game of basketball.
All camp attendees will receive a Next Level Summer Camp Nike Dri-Fit T-shirt along with other items which are included in the base cost of the program!
Site Logistics and Schedule
Camp Curriculum
Offense
- Basic offensive set and offensive play installation,
- Proper shooting form and technique,
- Passing, ball handling, offensive motion and movement fundamentals,
- Half-court and full-court offensive strategies and techniques.
Defense
- Age appropriate defensive coverages (man and zone concepts),
- Proper stance, leverage, motion alignments to establish defensive principles,
- Zone coverage responsibilities, court discipline and zone spacing discipline,
- Half-court and full-court defensive strategies and techniques.
Teamwork
- How to be a great teammate in a group dynamic,
- Understanding and implementation of team dynamics with offensive/defensive sets,
- Working as team unit throughout all aspects of the game (pregame, in-game, etc.)

Session Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Brian Carson is currently the Strength & Conditioning Coach and Assistant Basketball Coach at Junipero Serra High School. Brian is going on his 15th year at Serra and coming off a basketball season as the Head Coach. Sending players to the "Next Level" along with successful teams has been a huge part of Serra basketball- but the brotherhood, life lesson and friendships are what he is most proud of. As a player, Brian had the opportunity to play for legendary coaches such as Mike Carson (OLA/BIS), Doc Scheplar (Burlingame High), Mike LeGarza (Canada College), Jerry Tarkanian (Fresno State), Pat Fuscaldo (Sonoma State) and Ron Dubois (Chico Force).
